PROGRAM_ Conversion of Art Museum to Bioengineering Lab Facility, Schematic Design Study.
SOFTWARE_ Revit. Adobe Creative Suite.
DESIGN PERIOD_ March - April 2016

The renovation and rehabilitation of the former Berkeley Art Museum building was necessitated by the construction of a new Diller Scofidio + Renfro museum facility. UC Berkeley had earmarked the old building for a state of the art Bioengineering Lab Facility. The existing landmarked building had been designed by Mario Ciampi in the late 1960s and is a masterpiece of Brutalist architecture. My contribution to this project was early but critical - including figuring out how to feasibly convert the former art galleries to lab spaces, and how to integrate required structural upgrades without compromising the functionality of the architecture.
